Effective February 26, 2026. Previous version: October 1, 2019.
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information The Almoner collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We have written this in plain language because we believe you deserve to understand what happens with your data.
What We Collect and Why
Website Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use our website — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and what devices they use. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. It tracks page-level behavior, not what you type into forms or fields. We use this data to improve our content and tools.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
AI Grant Helper
The AI Grant Helper is a prompt-building tool that runs entirely in your browser. The answers you enter into the form are used to build your prompt locally — they are not sent to our servers and we do not store them.
If you choose to email your prompt to yourself, we collect:
- Your email address — to send the prompt and to subscribe you to our grant writing tips email list
- Organization name, organization type, and funder name — passed as custom fields to personalize future communications
- Timestamp — when the prompt was generated
This information is sent to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email service provider, which stores and processes it on our behalf. You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time by replying STOP or using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Email Newsletter and Lead Magnets
When you sign up for our email list or download a resource, we collect your email address and any additional information you provide (such as your name or organization). This information is stored in Kit and used to send you the content you requested and occasional updates about fundraising resources. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Comments and Contact
If you leave a comment on a blog post, WordPress stores your name, email address, and comment content. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to you and improve our services.
How We Protect Your Information
We protect your information using commercially reasonable measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication for administrative access, and access controls on our hosting and email service provider accounts. We do not store payment information — we do not currently process payments through our website.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Google Analytics 4 — website usage analytics (Google Privacy Policy)
- Kit (ConvertKit) — email list management and delivery (Kit Privacy Policy)
- cPanel / HostGator — website hosting
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
AI Tools and Your Data
The Almoner is a signatory of the Fundraising.AI Framework for Responsible and Beneficial AI. Our AI tools are designed with privacy as a foundational requirement, not an add-on.
The AI Grant Helper builds prompts in your browser. We do not send your form responses to any AI service — you do that yourself, with the AI provider of your choice, under their terms of service. We encourage you to review your chosen AI provider’s privacy policy before pasting your prompt.
For more information about how we approach AI responsibly, see our Responsible AI page.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Unsubscribe from our email communications at any time
- Opt out of analytics tracking (see above)
To exercise any of these rights, contact Nathan Krupa at [email protected].
Children’s Privacy
Our website and tools are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
